Wall insulation in Mission Viejo CA - rooms that hold their temperature
One room bakes in August and chills in January? We fill the empty walls through small, sealed holes so the whole house evens out.

Do the walls in your Mission Viejo house need insulation?
Wall insulation in Mission Viejo means filling the empty spaces between the studs in your outside walls, so rooms hold their temperature and street noise stays outside. In an older house with finished walls, the usual way is to drill small holes, blow insulation in and seal the holes behind us, so nobody tears out drywall.
Most calls start with one room that won't behave, often the room over the garage or a west-facing bedroom that cooks every afternoon, and older houses often have little or nothing in those walls. The price moves with how much outside wall you have, what the siding is, which side we drill from and whether anything wet or rotted has to be fixed first. The schedule turns on that repair and on a permit if your job needs one, which we file. If the hot room sits right under the roof, the attic may be the bigger problem, and attic insulation could come first. The estimate lays out each step in order, so you see your own number before anything starts.

Wall insulation work, up close
How we do wall insulation, start to finish
I start by looking for water damage, because insulation packed against a wet wall just hides the problem. I'm looking for stains, soft drywall, peeling paint, rotted trim around windows and doors and cracks in the stucco. If something's wet or rotted, it gets fixed before anyone drills, and until it is, I'll tell you the wall isn't ready. California ties some of its efficiency standards for a house's walls, windows and doors to the climate zone the house sits in, so I check yours before we pick a material. Then our installers drill small holes into each stud space from whichever side suits your house, blow insulation in until the space is full and plug and seal the holes. Before we start, I show you how we'll close those holes, inside or out, so the wall still sheds water the way it did before we showed up.
Walls are one piece of it. Air sneaking through gaps around outlets, top plates and window trim carries heat right past new insulation, so on a drafty house we often pair this with air sealing services, which means closing those gaps first. If the room that won't stay comfortable is below grade, those walls sit against dirt and need a different plan, and that's basement insulation.
Why homeowners here call us for wall insulation
The owner writes your estimate
I come out myself, look at the walls and write the estimate, then our installers do the work and I check it before we leave. The person who quoted your job is the one who signs off on it, so nothing gets lost between the visit and the drill.
Fully licensed and insured
We're fully licensed and insured, and that covers the crew on ladders beside your house. Ask to see it when I come out, because anyone drilling into your walls should be able to show you.
Based in Mission Viejo since 2023
I learned this trade on an insulation crew in Orange County attics and started this business here in 2023. We work across the Orange County cities around Mission Viejo, including plenty that don't have their own page on this site.
On a wall job, the order matters more than the material, so have someone look before anyone drills. Have your house's age, the siding type, any water stains and any re-siding plans handy, then call (949) 619-8030 or send us a note.

What happens after you call about wall insulation?
Call or send the form
I pick up, or I call you back, and we set a time for me to come out. Tell me which rooms bother you and whether you're planning new siding.
I check the walls
I look for water damage, check the siding and figure out which side we'd drill from. The estimate lists each step in the order we'd do it, repairs first, so you can see where the money goes.
We handle any permit
If your job needs a permit, we file it and book the inspections. Mission Viejo does inspections the next business day when the request goes in before 4:00 PM the day before, so that step doesn't usually add much wait.
Installers fill, I check
Our installers drill, fill and seal the holes, and I check the work before we call it done. Pull furniture a couple of feet off the walls we're working on, and you'll save us both some time.
Wall insulation questions
How do you insulate walls that are already finished?
You don't open the whole wall. The common method for older houses with empty walls in a mild climate like ours is drill and fill, which is a few small holes per stud space, insulation blown through them and the holes sealed. The holes can go in from inside or outside depending on your siding and your interior finishes, and it's fair to ask any installer which side they'd pick for your house and why.
How much does wall insulation cost in Mission Viejo?
Across the US, installing blown-in wall insulation usually runs about $4 to $4.50 per square foot. That's a national guide, not our price. Your number depends on your walls and what turns up in them, and the estimate breaks it down step by step.
Who is allowed to insulate walls in California?
A licensed contractor. California's Contractors State License Board counts installing any insulation for temperature or sound control as insulation and acoustical contractor work. State law lets an unlicensed person take on minor work up to $1,000, but only when it needs no permit and they have no employees, so on anything bigger, look the contractor up with the board before they drill.
How do permits and inspections work in Mission Viejo?
Mission Viejo Building Services issues permits in the city, and permits and inspection requests all go in online. If you're not sure whether your job needs one, you can email them at bldgservices@cityofmissionviejo.org. When a job of ours needs a permit, we file it and book the inspections, so the paperwork isn't yours.
What is the best time to insulate exterior walls?
When the siding comes off. With the outside of the wall stripped bare, insulating and sealing the whole wall will never be easier or cheaper, so if re-siding is on your list, fold the insulation into that project. If it isn't, drill and fill works on finished walls.
Can I stay home while you insulate my walls?
Usually, yes. Blown-in insulation doesn't clear the house out the way spray foam can, so it's mostly drill noise and some dust near the wall we're on. Keep pets in another room while we work, and I'll tell you up front if your job calls for something different.
Work that pairs with wall insulation
Air sealing services
Closes the drafts around outlets, trim and the attic hatch so your new insulation isn't fighting moving air.
Basement insulation
For rooms dug into a hillside or below the street, where the walls touch dirt and moisture plays by different rules.
